Imerovigli Caldera Walk

36.4336000, 25.4197000

About

Positioned at the highest point of Santorini's caldera rim — above both Fira and Oia — Imerovigli is the island's most elevated caldera village and arguably its finest viewpoint. The settlement is smaller and quieter than Fira and Oia, attracting visitors who prefer a more contemplative experience of the caldera without the tour group density.

The caldera-edge path through Imerovigli is walkable in both directions: north toward Oia (approximately 3 hours one way) and south toward Fira (approximately 1 hour). The path passes directly below cliff-edge churches, behind cave-house hotels, and along narrow lanes with the caldera void on one side. Several excellent restaurants with caldera views offer sunsets that rival Oia with a fraction of the crowd. The trailhead for the Skaros Rock hike begins at the Anastasi church.
